Back To The Basics

“The Basics” are the tools and skill sets learned from building your foundation. This includes your favorite self-care practices, boundaries you uphold, core values you stand by, etc. Learning the basics is the first step in transforming your perspective and, ultimately, your life. They require consistency and practice, so you eventually can reach a point where they are automatic responses to stressful situations. They are a part of being a healthy person.

Let’s face it, sometimes sh*t happens. In these moments, you might feel like revisiting lessons you thought you learned or having things come to the surface you thought you healed. Truthfully, healing something is not to put it away forever, wipe your hands clean, and never see it again. Rather, it is the process of acknowledging, accepting, learning, and relearning. Going back to basic skill sets that you realized maybe the first time around will help you move not only through your past but also through your present, and it will likely be revisited in the future.

Balancing being the student and being the teacher with yourself will allow you to step closer to mastering your healthiest self and the basic tools that ultimately become your foundation. This allows you to feel now like you always have an outlet and a place of grounding to remind and acknowledge how much you have gone through to get to where you are and find the motivation to keep going to where you will end up.

How are you being basic today?
